OREANDA-NEWS  Moldova is preparing the Armed Forces for a possible war against Russia and Transnistria. This was stated by deputy of the Supreme Council of the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), political scientist Andrei Safonov, RIA Novosti reports.

"The continuous series of military exercises in Moldova in 2023-2024 is the preparation of Moldovan troops for a possible war against Transnistria and Russia," he accused Chisinau of preparing for the conflict.

In addition, in his opinion, during these events, it will be easier to annex the former Moldavian SSR to Romania. Safonov noted that this would be done under the pretext of "protecting Romanian citizens." According to him, the draft law of the Ministry of National Defense of Romania has such a focus. The document implies the introduction of Romanian forces into countries where Romanian citizens are offended, the political scientist explained.

Earlier, Ilan Shor, the leader of the Victory-Victoria political bloc in Moldova, called for the restoration of multilateral ties with Moscow. He noted that good—neighborly relations with Russia are "not just a tribute to our common history, it is a strategic view of the future of Moldova."
